A ceremony Friday recognized the best Bulgarian universities. It was organized by the 24 Chasa daily and was attended by Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov. The awards are based on the rating system of higher education institutions in Bulgaria, an annual ranking commissioned by the Education and Science Ministry and a consortium that includes the Open Society Institute and the Sirma Group.

"The rating system is one of the best. We learn valuable information in every higher education institution and professional field," Denkov said, adding that different universities and fields compete on different tracks. "The quality measure on each of these tracks has its specificities," he added. The Prime Minister described the ceremony as one of the most useful events he had attended.

The ceremony presents the rating system as the highest quality reference for young people and their parents about which universities and which professional fields offer the best opportunities for young people's professional development, which higher education institutions accept students with the highest secondary education grades, which courses offer a 100% guarantee of employment immediately after graduation, and which are the highest paying degrees you can get in Bulgaria.

Denkov was gifted a St. Ivan Rilski icon for his efforts to contribute to the development of education, both when he was an education minister and now as prime minister.
