Bulgaria's Parliament will take a vote on the motion of no confidence against the Nikolay Denkov Cabinet at 1:55 p.m. on Thursday, National Assembly Deputy Chair Rositsa Kirova said here on Wednesday.
According to the Rules of Organization and Procedure of the National Assembly, a voted on a motion of no confidence may not be taken earlier than 24 hours after the close of the debate. Wednesday's debate took more than four hours.
The motion, entered by the BSP for Bulgaria, Vazrazhdane and There Is Such a People (TISP) parliamentary groups on November 8, was over "the Government's inability to guarantee national security and the country's defence".
The GERB-UDF and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) have already said that they will not back the motion to bring the Cabinet down.
To be carried, the no-confidence motion has to be approved by at least 121 votes in the 240-member legislature. The three parliamentary groups and one independent MP that push for it total 71 votes.
This is a second motion of no confidence against the Denkov Cabinet. It survived its first on October 13, 2023, when the vote was 71 in favour (from the opposition BSP for Bulgaria, TISP and Vazrazhdane) and 143 against (from power-sharing Continue the Change - UDF and GERB-UDF, plus the MRF.
