- National Day of Poland: Independence Day (1918);

- National Day of Angola: Independence Day (1975).

On this date in Bulgarian history:

1875: Bulgarian revolutionary committee based in Giurgiu, Romania, decides to organize uprising to liberate Bulgaria from Ottoman rule. Uprising breaks out in April 1876 and is suppressed by Ottoman authorities, but precipitates country's liberation two years later. 

1952: Bishop Evgeni Bosilkov of Nikopol and three more Catholic clergymen are charged with espionage and executed. Beatified by Pope John II during his visit to Bulgaria in 2002.

November 12

The world:

- Birth of Baha'u'llah. Religious feast of the Baha'i Community.
- World Pneumonia Day.

1897: A naval force is set up in Varna by a decree of Prince Alexander of Battenberg, laying the foundations for the Varna Naval Base.
 
1945: The Higher School of Technology is set up in Ruse.

2001: Bulgaria is elected a member of the FAO Council.
