site.btaAlpha Research Poll: 41.5% of Sofia Residents Certain to Vote in October 29 Local Elections

Alpha Research found in a poll on electoral attitudes in Sofia that 41.5% of respondents are certain to vote in the October 29 local elections, while 20.9% are hesitant. Those who say they will not go to the polls are 37.6%.

The poll commissioned by bTV was conducted on October 21-24.

Asked which mayoral candidate they will vote for, 29.8% said Vassil Terziev (Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria, CC-DB, and Save Sofia), 21.1% Anton Hekimyan (GERB), 20.2% Vanya Grigorova (Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP), 10.2% Deyan Nikolov (Vazrazhdane), 8.3% Vili Lilkov (KOD), 3.4% Ivaylo Valchev (There Is Such a People, TISP), 1.9% Violeta Komitova (Bulgarian Rise) and 0.6% Carlos Contrera (VMRO). 4.5% of respondents opted for "Other" or "None Of The Above"

Asked which municipal councillor list they will vote for, 33.2% opted for that of CC-DB and Save Sofia, 22.8% GERB, 12.4% Vazrazhdane, 10.1% BSP, 5.7% KOD, 3% TISP, 2.5% Bulgarian Rise and 0.9% VMRO. 9.4% opted for "Other" or "None Of The Above".

Questioned what problems should be addressed to make Sofia a better place to live, 61.2% said car traffic, congestion and parking spaces; 59.3% overdevelopment and crowding; 52.6% the condition of streets, pavements and the quality of repair works; 48.3% reducing air pollution; 47.7% street cleanliness and waste collection and disposal; 46.9% corruption; 45.5% health care, hospitals and polyclinics; 41.9% the condition of residential districts; 39.2% the shortage of places in kindergartens; 24.1% public transport; 21.6% public order and safety; 20.5% landscaping and green spaces; 14.6% development of culture and cultural events; and 11.8% places for sports. 7.5% of respondents opted for "Other".
