"Vietnam's role in the Asian region is key and of strategic importance for the development of the economy, education and technology. Bulgaria could help the closer cooperation between the European Union and Vietnam," Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov told the visiting Chairman of Vietnam's National Assembly, Vuong Dinh Hue, quoted by the Bulgarian Government press office Monday.

In response, the guest said that his country was ready to assist Bulgaria in its efforts to deepen partnership with other countries in Asia.

As an example of the excellent bilateral political and cultural ties, the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam pointed to the more than 30,000 Vietnamese students who have received education in Bulgarian universities and now hold leading positions in their country. "They are a bridge between our peoples," Vuong Dinh Hue added.

Nikolay Denkov and Vuong Dinh Hue were unanimous that the two countries can successfully cooperate in the field of green transition and digitalization.

The Bulgarian Prime Minister invited Vietnamese companies to invest in the three coal regions that will be heavily affected by the energy transition. Denkov stressed that the Government's goal is not only to preserve jobs in these regions, but also to turn them into centres of state-of-the-art technological development.
