The criticism aimed at the President and this fire against the presidential institution are meant to divert the attention of the Bulgarian public from what the government committed to President Zelenskyy during the meeting, which was closed to the media, Vice President Iliana Iotova said Saturday in the village of Balvan near Veliko Tarnovo, where she was a guest at a banitsa festival.

"The media were invited to the statements at the presidential institution, while the meetings with the executive were held behind closed doors", Iotova clarified. In her words, the different opinions and positions of the Prime Minister and the Defence Minister on Friday show that there is definitely a desire to hide something from the Bulgarian public.

"One talks about giving everything to Ukraine, except for the planes, and the other says that we will give what we can," the Vice President noted. According to her, on Friday the PM was in a situation to interpret the words of his own minister, which leaves the feeling that there is something covert.

Iliana Iotova reiterated that in May President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was on a similar tour in Western Europe - Italy, Germany and France. "There he made specific requests and received a clear answer, but he did not receive a specific answer from Bulgaria, and if he did, it remained hidden from the Bulgarian public", Iotova said.

She described as "serious" the signal that came on Friday from the United States that Ukraine could not get NATO membership in the near future because of the war.
