There is no reason to dismiss the director of the Ivan Vazov National Theatre, Minister of Culture Nayden Todorov told the Bulgarian National Radio on Sunday. Todorov commented on the case of the dismissal of chief director at the National Theatre Alexander Morfov, who was fired by the theatre manager Vasil Vassilev a few days ago.

My personal opinion is that the dismissal of Alexander Morfov should not have been done in such a way, he added. According to Todorov, the artists who defended Morfov have asked him to dismiss the theatre director, although there is no reason for that. We are talking about a "lynching" and this is the opposite of the rule of law we are striving for, he said. If there are grounds to dismiss the manager of the National Theatre, I will do it, but there are none, Todorov added.

The problem at the moment at the National Theatre is the division that is occurring between the artists, people who work together are starting not to talk to each other, to look at each other the wrong way, Todorov noted. He said that it is never too late for a wound to be healed and that he will try to talk to both sides about the case.
