site.btaBulgaria Grants Citizenship to 2,183 People in 2021

Eurostat data show that in 2021, 2,183 people received Bulgarian citizenship. Their number increased compared to 2020, when Bulgarian passports were issued to 859 people, which is the highest number since at least 2013. European Union countries granted citizenship to 827,319 residents of other countries in 2021. This is an increase of about 14% compared to 2020, when 729,013 people received EU citizenship, the European Statistical Office reported.
