site.btaDeputy PM Demerdzhiev, Officials Lay Wreaths at Delchev Family Memorial in Blagoevgrad


Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev and Minister of Health Assen Medjidiev laid wreaths at the Memorial of the Delchev family in the courtyard of the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin Mary in Blagoevgrad in connection with the 151st anniversary of the birth of Gotse Delchev.
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Nikolay Shushkov, MEP Angel Dzhambazki, the Governor of Blagoevgrad Stoyan Hristov. After honoring the memory of the revolutionary and his family, the officials attended a public prayer for health and prosperity of the Bulgarian people, officiated by the priests Father Andon Shavulev and Father Petar Stefanov.
The memorial of the Delchev family was erected in 1987 in the “Varosha” National Revival quarter of Blagoevgrad, in the courtyard of the church as an expression of gratitude to the family of the protagonist of the national liberation movement of the Bulgarians in Macedonia and Adrianople, ideologist and organizer of the Internal Macedonian-Adrainople Revolutionary Organization (IMRO) Gotse Delchev.
A wreath and flower laying ceremony in connection with the 151st anniversary of Gotse Delchev's birth was also held in front of the monument to the revolutionary in Macedonia Square in Blagoevgrad.
