GERB leader Boyko Borissov met in Sofia with MPs from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Borissov reported on his Facebook page on Friday. Borissov wrote that his party continues to support Ukraine firmly and consistently, which he stated during a meeting with Ukrainian MPs Fedor Venislavsky, who is also Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's representative in the Verkhovna Rada, and Ihor Herasymenko, who is a recipient of the Hero of Ukraine award and member of the Rada Committee on National Security, Defence, and Intelligence.
Representatives of the Ukrainian Embassy in Sofia also participated in the meeting.
Borissov emphasized GERB's role in having the Great Famine (the Holodomor) in Ukraine in 1932-1933 recognized as genocide by Bulgaria's National Assembly on February 1, 2023. "Thanks to GERB, the decisions to provide military assistance to Ukraine were adopted," he said.
The meeting agenda included opportunities for deepening the cooperation between Bulgaria and Ukraine, as well as between Zelenskyy's Servant of the People Party and GERB.
