The caretaker government is taking measures to facilitate the socio-economic integration of Afghan citizens admitted in Bulgaria.
The Council of Ministers authorised the Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Lazar Lazarov, to negotiate and conclude agreements with regional governors, mayors of municipalities, town halls, districts, or heads of non-profit legal entities to promote the socio-economic integration of Afghan nationals admitted to Bulgaria in August 2021.
At that time, by decision of the Council of Ministers, Afghan citizens who had worked in Bulgaria's embassy in Kabul or had official relations with the European Union and NATO or their structures in Afghanistan were accommodated here.
With the new decision, Cabinet creates opportunities for their housing and integration by providing social support, job placement services and inclusion in employment and training programmes and measures.
