Interior Ministry Launches Countrywide Operation against Vote-buying

A police operation against influenced voting and vote buying has been launched across Bulgaria and will continue until the end of snap election day, October 2, the Interior Ministry told BTA Thursday.

In the seaside region of Burgas, the operation is focused on preventing domestic crime and prevention of crimes related to citizens' political rights. Commercial establishments, pawnbrokers, and companies dealing in firewood and others are checked. One person was detained following an alert involving illegal harvesting and supplying of firewood, as well as usury.

Another operation is under way in Blagoevgrad, Southwestern Bulgaria. 

In Ruse region, on the Danube, police patrols are stationed in vulnerable areas, neighbourhoods and localities, including temporary checkpoints in various locations.
