site.btaVazrazhdane Proposes Comprehensive Package of Measures in Education

Education of young Bulgarians has been a key priority for Vazrazhdane since its establishment, the party’s press centre said on Monday, noting that it has developed a comprehensive package of measures. 

Among the proposals is the abolition of delegated school budgets, which, according to the party, have turned schools into commercial entities.

The package also includes a legal ban on closing the only school in a given settlement within a three-year period, aimed at preventing depopulation and the deterioration of educational infrastructure in smaller communities. Vazrazhdane further proposes banning foreign-funded foundations and organizations from influencing Bulgarian students and teachers.

The party also calls for the introduction of a single approved textbook per subject, selected by teachers, experts and the minister, in order to end what it describes as chaos caused by multiple competing editions.

Additional measures include enhanced instruction in civic education, mathematics, entrepreneurship and sports, to be provided free of charge to parents and organized by educational institutions.
