site.btaSofia to Host Conference "Bulgaria on Doorstep of Eurozone" Involving Senior EU Officials
A high-level conference titled “Bulgaria on the Doorstep of the Eurozone” will be held at the Boyana Residence in Sofia on November 4, the Finance Ministry's press centre said on Monday. The conference forms part of the communication campaign for the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria on January 1, 2026, and is organized by the Ministry of Finance and the Bulgarian National Bank.
It will begin at 9 a.m. with an opening session attended by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov and International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva. The keynote speech will be delivered by European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde.
A video conference with Paschal Donohoe, President of the Eurogroup and Minister of Finance of Ireland, will open a leaders' dialogue, followed by a roundtable discussion with Temenuzhka Petkova, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Bulgaria; Dimitar Radev, Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank; Valdis Dombrovskis, European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, Implementation and Simplification; and Pierre Gramegna, Managing Director of the European Stability Mechanism. The high-level event will be moderated by Liliana Pavlova, former vice-president of the European Investment Bank.
It will be broadcast live in Bulgarian on the Facebook page "For the Euro BG" and in English on the website evroto.bg.
