Traffic across the Danube Bridge at Ruse will be suspended on Thursday due to ongoing repairs, according to the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA).
Passenger cars will be banned from crossing between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Truck traffic will be restricted for 24 hours, from 9 a.m. on Thursday until 9 a.m. on Friday.
Since repairs began on July 10, 2024, work has been carried out daily without disrupting traffic, with two-way traffic allowed on the unaffected lane, RIA added.
The Interior Ministry Directorate in Ruse is urging drivers to follow traffic rules and adhere to police instructions.
During the traffic suspension, some vehicles will be redirected to alternative routes, while others will need to wait at various locations in the country and region. Police will closely monitor traffic to prevent congestion and ensure safety for all road users. Vehicles will not be allowed to stop or park along Turtrakan Blvd and Bulgaria Blvd in Ruse, as well as on other sections where this could hinder traffic flow.
Ruse Regional Governor Dragomir Draganov said that both passenger and freight trains travelling between Bulgaria and Romania will still be able to cross the Danube Bridge at Ruse-Giurgiu on Thursday.
