site.btaEC President von der Leyen Expected to Visit Skopje on October 24

It transpired from a meeting between the Minister of Justice of North Macedonia, Igor Filkov, and the head of the EU Delegation in that country, Ambassador Michalis Rokas, that European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will arrive in Skopje on October 24, the Filkov's Ministry reported. 

At the meeting, Filkov and Rokas discussed the planned reforms in the judiciary, the Judicial Council, the Sectoral Strategy for the Development of the Judiciary 2024-2028, the Criminal Code, the digitalisation of the judiciary, the European integration processes, as well as the fight against corruption.

Igor Filkov has underlined the determination that reforms are a priority of the State and EU support remains key for the stability of the country, while Ambassador Rokas has said that enlargement "is high on the EU agenda" and the rule of law is the most important in the context of European integration. 

"He [Rokas] expressed his readiness to support the capacity of the Ministry of Justice and announced the visit of the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to the country on October 24, 2024," said the press release, published on the website of the Ministry of Justice.
