Bulgaria’s caretaker Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov has taken part in a quadrilateral meeting with his counterparts from Romania, Greece, and Croatia held on the sidelines of the General Debate of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Kondov’s Ministry said.

The four top diplomats discussed the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and its implications for regional security. They also addressed the European Union's (EU) enlargement policy and the evolving crisis in the Middle East.

Kondov and his counterparts agreed that unwavering support for Ukraine should continue for as long as it takes. The four diplomats were adamant that Ukraine's future lies in the EU, the press release said.

The ministers shared the view that the new geopolitical landscape puts the EU's enlargement policy at the heart of the agenda. They agreed that it is in their countries’ best interest to have stable, pro-European, and prosperous neighbours.

The four also agreed to keep coordinating their positions on issues on the European and global agenda.

On Thursday, Kondov participated in an informal meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the EU and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) in New York. Co-chaired by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, and Honduras' Secretary of State, Eduardo Enrique Reina García, acting as Pro Tempore Chair of CELAC, the meeting was aimed at fostering the inter-regional dialogue and paving the way for the EU-CELAC Foreign Ministers' Meeting and the upcoming EU-CELAC Summit in 2025.
