The Prime Ministers of the Republic of North Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski, of Albania, Edi Rama, and of Montenegro, Milojko Spajic, held a meeting in Washington DC with Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Thom Tillis om Tillis and members of the Senate NATO Observer Group,, the government press office in Skopje reported.
At the meeting, Mickoski pointed out that the Balkan region has gone through a difficult period of challenges and changes, which have shown that cooperation, accelerated development and investment can only bring citizens a better life.
He pointed out that blockades, delays and obstructions should be a remnant of a past time, from which the region should learn how not to get bogged down in unreasonable disputes that create stereotypes and discord between citizens.
The future of the region is economic cooperation and investment for happier citizens, as well as a decisive fight against corruption and organized crime, which represent the greatest threat to progress, Mickoski said, adding that the North Macedonian government is committed to a developed economy and establishing the rule of law. Any initiative for greater cooperation in the region that can lead to a better life is welcome, he said, noting that a new beginning and a generation of politicians ready for reasonable dialogue, based on facts, are needed.
Mickoski is in Washington DC to participate in the NATO Summit.
