site.btaUPDATED Bulgarian Sailors Detained in Constanta Questioned by Romanian Authorities

The crews of three Bulgarian fishing vessels detained at Constanta were questioned by the Romanian authorities on Saturday, Bulgarian Ambassador in Bucharest Radko Vlaikov told BTA.
Vlaikov said the 10 sailors are well.
The ships were detained on Thursday night about 50 nautical miles east of Constanta after the sailors were caught poaching turbot and shark in the Romanian exclusive economic zone in the Black Sea. After a check, they were escorted to the Constanta military port.
The case is under investigation by the Romanian coast guard. Criminal proceedings were instituted under prosecutorial supervision.
Vanya Stamatova, who heads the Executive Agency for Fisheries and Aquaculture (EAFA) in Burgas, expects more details about the case on Monday. She told BTA on the phone that the EAFA has not received any official information from Romania. Stamatova expects a report by two EAFA inspectors on Monday morning.
