The Defence Ministry expresses its condolences to the families of the victims of the train crash in Greece, the Ministry said Wednesday in a post on Twitter.
"We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the train accident that claimed so many lives near Larissa, Greece. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families and the people of Greece. Accept our sincere condolences! Bulgaria mourns with you!", the Ministry wrote.
Shortly before midnight, a passenger train in North Greece collided with an oncoming freight train. The crash occurred just before the Vale of Tempe, at a gorge separating the Thessaly and Macedonia regions. According to the latest reports, 40 people have died and at least 130 people have been injured.
