The Ambassador of the Republic of Turkiye in Sofia, Mrs. Aylin Sekizkok, thanked the Bulgarian citizens of all ethnicities for their sympathy and help for the victims of the earthquakes in her homeland in an emotional Facebook post on Thursday.
"This is the first time in my 30-year professional career that I have witnessed such strong empathy and willingness to help as is being shown in Bulgaria towards my beautiful Turkiye, which was struck by the earthquakes," the ambassador wrote.
She also thanked for the empathy and willingness with which the official Bulgarian institutions are helping Turkiye.
"Bulgaria was one of the first countries to provide assistance to Turkiye, for which we are grateful. Bulgaria was the first to respond to our call to send additional rescue teams. The Ministry of Defence immediately responded by saying it would send more teams by military aircraft. They left immediately and are providing all kinds of assistance," the ambassador wrote.
She also pointed out that Bulgarian citizens from different communities - Turks, Pomaks, Roma, people from all over the country, are collecting and sending aid to the victims.
Significant donations have been received from various companies into the account opened by the Turkish Embassy. The account of the General Muftiate has received over BGN 130,000 so far.
The honorary chairman of the MRF, Ahmed Dogan, has donated one million Turkish liras.
"We will surely heal our wounds with your invaluable help. It is good to have you, it is good that you are with us!" wrote the Turkish ambassador in conclusion.
