Bulgarian Ambassador to Turkey Angel Cholakov met with Anadolu Agency Director General Serdar Karagoz on Wednesday, the Bulgarian Embassy in Turkey said on its Facebook page. Cholakov and Karagoz rallied around the idea that the exchange of more positive and useful information about Turkey and Bulgaria will contribute to promoting the two countries' advantages as affordable and nearby tourist destinations, to the promotion of bilateral trade and investments, to the cultural exchange and a better presentation of achievements, innovations and initiatives in various areas of mutual interest.

The two affirmed their readiness to assist in the opening in Ankara of a bureau of the Bulgarian News Agency with a permanent correspondent. The significance of the cooperation between the two news agencies, which this month will be made official with the signing of an agreement, takes on broader dimensions within the context of the election of Bulgaria and the Bulgarian News Agency as seat of the Association of Balkan News Agencies - Southeast Europe. The agreement will be signed October 20 and will provide for exchange of information, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said in a press release.

Serdar Karagoz briefly presented the activities and structure of the Anatolian News Agency, highlighting the large number of its correspondent bureaus on all continents and the 13 language services. He mentioned his fruitful contacts with the head of the BTA and the good cooperation between the two agencies so far, including with regard to the European Association of News Agencies /EANA/.

Ambassador Cholakov briefed Serdar Karagoz on upcoming initiatives of the Embassy and said that it will rely on the Anatolian News Agency for popularizing them.
