The National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria (NAMRB) is organizing a ceremony at which ten Bulgarian municipalities will sign declarations for joining the B40 Balkan Cities Network, the Association said on Monday. The ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, June 28, as part of the visit of Istanbul Mayor and B40 initiator Ekrem Imamoglu to Sofia at the invitation of Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova.

Sofia, Burgas, Veliko Tarnovo, Plovdiv, Dimitrovgrad, Troyan, Rakovski, Karlovo, Sliven and Karnobat are the municipalities interested in joining the B40 network.

The B40 network, established in November 2021 on Ekremoglu's initiative, brings together 25 Balkan cities in eleven countries. Kardzhali Mayor and NAMRB Managing Board Deputy Chairman Hasan Azis is one of the founders of the organisation. In December 2021 the NAMRB leadership had a working meeting with Imamoglu at which the inclusion of other Bulgarian municipalities was agreed upon.
