Activities as part of the CROSS LANDING 2026 aviation exercise between Serbia and Hungary were conducted at the Bikovo sports airport on the outskirts of Subotica and in Sombor, northwestern Serbia. The exercise is taking place this week in the airspace and on the territory of both countries, the Defence Ministry announced on its website.
According to the statement, the cross-border military aviation search-and-rescue exercise is being held on the basis of a bilateral military cooperation plan between Serbia and Hungary.
During the first joint exercise of the Serbian and Hungarian air forces, procedures and joint operations in the event of an aircraft incident in the border area are being practiced, the Tanjug news agency reported.
Since Wednesday, the Serbian Army and NATO have also begun their first joint military exercise at the South base and the Borovac training ground near Bujanovac in the southern part of the country. Serbia and NATO have launched their first-ever joint military exercise, a landmark cooperation between the Balkan country and the alliance that bombed its capital less than 30 years ago.
