GDP Goes Up
by 3.4% in Second Quarter
of 2018, Y/Y

Sofia, August 14 (BTA) - Bulgaria's gross domestic product (GDP)
 in the second quarter of 2018 increased by 3.4 per cent
compared with the second quarter of 2017 and by 0.8 per cent
compared with the first quarter of 2018, according to seasonally
 adjusted data published by the National Statistical Institute
on Tuesday.

Flash estimates put nominal GDP at 26.047 billion leva in the
second quarter of 2018 while the gross value added stood at
22.445 billion leva.

Final consumption accounted for the largest share (79 per cent)
of GDP and stood at 20.586 billion leva. Gross fixed capital
formation was 23.1 per cent of GDP and amounted to 6.009 billion
 leva. The foreign trade balance was negative.

The gross value added in the second quarter of 2018 went up by
0.6 per cent compared with the first quarter, and by 3.1 per
cent compared with the second quarter of 2017.

Final consumption increased by 4.7 per cent in the second
quarter of 2018. Gross capital formation grew by 4.4 per cent in
 the second quarter of 2018 compared with the like period in
2017. Exports and imports of goods and services went up by 2.7
per cent and 4.6 per cent respectively.
