Registry Agency Executive Director
Resigns after Week-long Crash of
Commercial Register

Sofia, August 17 (BTA) - The Executive Director of the Registry Agency, Zornitsa Daskalova, has resigned. Daskalova's letter of resignation has been accepted by Justice Minister Tsetska Tsacheva, the Justice Ministry said on Friday.

The resignation came after the Commercial Register was shut down by a glitch for close to a week before it was partially restored last Thursday.

The resignation was largely expected after Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said earlier in the week that he was dissatisfied with the Daskalova's work and that he would make changes at her department as soon as the crisis with the Commercial Register was over.

Earlier on Friday the Registry Agency reported that the Commercial Register and the Register of Not-for-Profit Legal Entities had resumed feeding information into the Registry Information Exchange System (RegIX), operated by the State Agency for Electronic Government.

This has greatly facilitated the purchase and transfer of assets, including motor vehicles, on which notaries and the Interior Ministry exchange information online via RegIX.

Experts continue to work on restoring access to the other functions of the two registers after they broke down last Friday. All competent specialists of the maintenance company and the Registry Agency are working round the clock to fix the problem, the Agency said. LN/ZH
