Greet Bulgarian Muslims
on Occasion of Kurban Bayrami Religious Holiday
Sofia, August 21 (BTA) - Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, Prime
Minister Boyko Borissov, and Parliament Tuesday greeted the
Muslim community in Bulgaria on the occasion of the Kurban
Bayrami ("the Holiday of Sacrifice") religious holiday.
"During these sacred days for the Muslims, it is important to
observe the traditions. The messages about goodness,
reconciliation, and forgiveness should unite our society," Radev
said, quoted by his Press Secretariat.
In a Facebook post Borissov wished health, happiness, peace and
understanding in the families of the Muslims. "This day teaches
humility and respect. Let us uphold and continue the wisdom with
which we work together for out common future," Borissov wrote.
In Parliament, the parliamentary groups of GERB, the Movement
for Rights and Freedoms, and the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP)
too congratulated the Bulgarian Muslims. The greetings were
made at the start of an extraordinary sitting of the National
Assembly demanded by the BSP. On the agenda is a draft
resolution on the case of the bankrupt Syprus-based Olympic
Insurance Company Ltd. and a hearing of the Prime Minister in
connection with a recent crash of the Commercial Register.
