President Radev Participates in
Observances of 141st Anniversary of
Shipka Epopee

Gabrovo, Central Bulgaria, August 25 (BTA) - President Rumen
Radev participated Saturday in the observances of the 141st
anniversary of the Battle of the Shipka Pass, also known as the
Shipka Epopee, during the 1877-78 Russo-Turkish War, Radev's
press secretariat said.

Thousands of people, among them members of the public,
politicians, MPs, and mayors, attended the event.

Radev joined a tourist march to Peak Shipka in the Balkan Range
where the heaviest battles were fought. "We bow our heads to
this place where Bulgarian and Russian brave people died for
Bulgaria's resurrection," Radev said.

Radev laid a wreath to the Monument of Liberty.

The guests watched a re-enactments of the Shipka battle.

The anniversary was also marked with special events in Gabrovo.
