Varna, on the Black Sea, August 28 (BTA) - The USNS expeditionary fast transport ship Carson City is docking in Varna. Captain Jonathan Keffer, the ship's civilian master, said that it is the ship's first ever visit to the Black Sea.

The ship is in the Black Sea to deliver equipment for an exercise of the US armed forces after which it will return to the Mediterranean.

Keffer said that the vessel belongs to the US Navy and is designed to transport cargo and people. The ship can accommodate 312 people including crew, passengers and people rescued during humanitarian operations. The cabins can sleep 104 passengers. LI/PP
