Bulgarian Foreign Ministry, Politicians
Condemn Pittsburgh
Synagogue Shooting

Sofia, October 28 (BTA) - In a position released Sunday, the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemns the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting in the United States. "This tragedy shows that anti-Semitism and xenophobia, hate and violence towards the other should be completely eradicated," the position reads.

On Saturday, a 46-year-old gunman opened fire at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh during its Sabbath service, killing 11 people.

"In this hard moment for the Jewish community, let us not even for a second forget what consequences anti-Semitism could have - this is the message from Sofia, where the synagogue, the mosque, the Eastern Orthodox church and the Catholic church are located next to each other," the Foreign Ministry says, sending condolences to the victims' friends and relatives and wishing quick recovery to the wounded.

National Assembly Chair Tsveta Karayancheva cabled condolences to US House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan over the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting, Parliament's press office said. She strongly condemns the shooting and offers condolences to the victims' friends and relatives.
