Sofia, November 8 (BTA) - Prosecutor General Sotir Tsatsarov has approached Parliament to strip of immunity six incumbent MPs, the Prosecuting Magistracy said in a press release Thursday. The six MPs are: Elena Yoncheva (Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP), Vesselin Mareshki (leader of the Volya party), Krustina Taskova (Volya), Plamen Hristov (Volya), Georgi Mihailov (BSP) and Boris Kurchev (GERB).

Yoncheva will be investigated for money laundering, in particular for financial transactions with money Yoncheva allegedly embezzled from the now bankrupt Corporate Commercial Bank, or CorpBank. The money was allegedly concealed by resorting to an off-shore company. The investigation starts after a tip-off from MPs.

Mareshki, Taskova and Hristov will be investigated for extortion. Mareshki, a major businessman operating pharmacies and filling stations, and his fellow MPs, reportedly threatened owners of pharmacies asking them to purchase supplies at higher prices.

Mihailov will be investigated for premeditated mismanagement and conclusion of disadvantageous contracts while he was head of a haematological hospital in Sofia. The suspected wrongdoing is to the amount of 24,359,808 leva.

Kurchev will be investigated for unpaid due value added tax amounting to 320,000 leva in his capaciaty as a manager of a company. LY/ZH//
