Bulgaria's VMRO Party
Joins
Alliance of Conservatives and Reformists in Europe

Sofia, February 22 (BTA) - The Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization - Bulgarian National Movement (VMRO-BND) became a member of the Alliance of Conservatives and Reformists in Europe (ACRE) at its forum in Rome on Friday, the party's press office said. VMRO views this as "a serious act of international recognition".

VMRO member Angel Dzhambazki has been a member of the European Conservatives and Reformists Group in the European Parliament for five years now.

VMRO believes the timing was perfect after Turkish President Erdogan's Justice and Development Party (AKP) ended its ACRE membership. This eliminated "the red line which VMRO would never cross" - being in the same organization as Erdogan.

VMRO expects the next European Parliament to have a completely different correlation of forces, with the conservative and patriotic forces winning even broader representation.

VMRO hopes to enter the European Parliament as part of ACRE and to fight for a Europe of Fatherlands, for larger national sovereignty, for preserving the family and national traditions and Europe's cultural and Christian character, and against the entry of migrants.

The party said: "We will oppose the Liberals who destroyed the European citizens' trust with their politics." LN/DD
