Sofia, February 26 (BTA) - VMRO municipal councillors have submitted to Sofia Town Hall a proposal for adopting a programme that includes the provision of a one-time grant to encourage the birth and raising of children among educated families. The goal is to stimulate the birth rate among the educated and cultured segment of the population in Sofia, the party reported in a press release.

The measures provide for Sofia Town Hall to offer a one-time grant to families with secondary and post-secondary education. If approved, the grant aid for a first child will be 200 leva, 500 leva for a second child and 1,300 leva for a third child. If the parents have a graduate-level degree, the assistance for a third child could reach 1,700 leva.

The conditions that the parents will have to meet, in addition to the education level, will be to have a permanent or current address in Sofia in the past two or three years. LI/MY
