We Fight over Whether Europe
Should Be Macron's or
the Nations': MEP Angel Dzhambazki

Sofia, March 9 (BTA) - At an international meeting of the Alliance of Conservatives and Reformists in Europe (ACRE) here Saturday, VMRO deputy leader and MEP Angel Dzhambazki said Bulgaria is the most stable country on the Balkans and aims to be the leading one in the region.

The meeting was organized by Dzhambazki and was titled "Europe's Future: Traditionalism, Christian values, Patriotism". Participants were representatives of ACRE and the European Conservatives and Reformists.

Dzhambazki noted that Europe's future lies in the return of traditions and patriotism, and commented that Bulgaria began to protect its national interest for the first time during its EU Council Presidency.

He noted as a positive trend that Eastern European countries had finally started uniting and protecting their common interests. He said that the millions of migrants who enter Europe aim to "change us according to their own religion and ways of life, which is completely unacceptable", which is why educated patriotism is needed. According to Dzhambazki, people should turn to the true roots of Bulgarian patriotism, that is, education, rather than social media.

Another key topic, according to him, is whether Europe should be Macron's or of the nations.

Environment and Water Minister Neno Dimov said that "we all sense it is a time when there is no single perspective". According to him, the creeping censorship is spreading over the present. "We have a duty to represent the politically silent public", he noted, adding that leftists have betrayed their European electorate and as a result, impose atheism and oppress Christianity. Dimov pointed to conservatism as the cure and said Europe and Bulgaria's treatment should begin at the upcoming elections.

Georgi Harizanov, Right Policy Institute Executive Director, said the issue lies in establishing new socialism in places with no prior dictatorships. "We are increasingly subject to informational attacks from the West, trying to persuade us that socialism is something pleasant," Harizanov said, adding that thanks to BSP leader Kornelia Ninova, Bulgaria is a country with no socialists in its Parliament. He suggested that the State and its representatives in national and European institutions should fight against the imposing of leftism and socialism. LI/TH
