April 25 (BTA) - GERB and the Bulgarian Democratic Forum (BDF) party have signed here on Thursday a political partnership agreement. The document was signed by GERB leader Boyko Borissov and BDF Chair Zhaklin Toleva, GERB reported.

The agreement notes that the two parties realize the need for democratic political organizations to join their efforts for continuing Bulgaria's European integration and affirming the principles of democracy and a state governed by the rule of law.

By taking into account the new challenges facing the EU and European People Party President Joseph Daul's call for unity, the BDF party supports GERB's list of MEP candidates for the upcoming European elections on May 26, 2019, the agreement further reads.

GERB is creating a council with the parties that have supported the joint list of MEP candidates between GERB and the Union of Democratic Forces. The council will be presided over by Borissov, while its members will consist of the leaders of all parties that have signed political partnership agreements. The idea behind the council is to exchange opinions and discuss various topics related to the European elections campaign. IG/MY
