site.btaPrices Increase of Clinical Pathways for Maternity and Children's Healthcare
May 3 (BTA) - The prices of the clinical pathways for
maternity and children's healthcare will increase as of June 1,
Health Minister Kiril Ananiev told reporters on Friday, emerging
from a meeting with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, top
officials of the Health Ministry, the Bulgarian Medical Union
(BMU) and hospitals' associations. Mediapool.bg reports that the
prices of some of the most underfinanced clinical pathways,
such as those in paediatrics, will be increased with an amount
of 50 million leva which will be provided from the reserve of
the National Health Insurance Fund. The prices of other pathways
which have not been updated for a long time will be increased
too, Ananiev said.
BMU Chairman Ivan Madjarov said that the if money in the
healthcare system is spared, to use it to pay hospital work
done in previous years in excess of the existing caps. Madjarov
stressed that this should be done only if savings are made, and
not through allocations of additional spending. IG/ZH
