Sofia, May 7 (BTA) - President Rumen Radev has congratulated Stevo Pendarovski on his victory in North Macedonia's presidential elections, Radev's press secretariat said on Tuesday. He wished the President-elect of Bulgaria's southwestern neighbor success and courage at a time when North Macedonia has an important agenda in its progress to NATO and EU accession.

Radev underscored that Bulgaria remains a steadfast supporter of North Macedonia's European perspective. "The Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighbourliness and Cooperation between the two countries has paved the way for achieving this common priority," Radev said. Bulgaria also expects the leadership of North Macedonia's new President to ingrain that spirit in the basis of the future bilateral relations.

Underscoring the historical closeness of Bulgaria and North Macedonia, the President expressed hope for further fruitful contacts between the presidential institutions, as well as for meeting Pendarovski soon./LI/BR
