site.btaGorata.bg Initiative Gives Out Over 16,000 Saplings in Pernik

Volunteers from the Gorata.bg initiative distributed 16,000 saplings in Pernik on Saturday, said the initiative's founder Nikola Rahnev.
"This is part of our campaign, which will reach five million planted trees this spring. This is the result of 12 years of work, love and perseverance, but to achieve it, we have a lot of work to do. That is why we started in late autumn and are continuing until early spring," Rahnev said, adding that they will visit 45 towns. The aim is a greener and cleaner Bulgaria.
He noted that beekeepers and people who are concerned about the bee population prefer to take linden, sycamore or ash trees.
"We are not getting EU funding, there are no salaries. We are muddy, we get up early, go to bed late, walk in the cold, because we do it with our hearts," Rahnev stated. He pointed out that the initiative gets involved whenever there is some injustice or when help is needed, like during the floods in Karlovo Region in 2022.
