July 3 (BTA) - "Now, more than ever before, it is important for the Ukrainian leadership to make more reforms, particularly in the spheres of justice, the state of law and the fight against corruption," Deputy Prime Minister responsible for economic and demographic policy Mariyana Nikolova said. She was speaking at an international Ukraine Reform Conference, the Government Information Service said Wednesday.
This year, the third edition of the forum is being held in Toronto in the presence of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The Bulgarian Deputy PM noted that the intentions declared by Zelenskyy to retain the European and Euro-Atlantic course of development is a promising sign that Ukraine will continue along the way of reform. She underscored that this should happen at respect of the interests of all walks of society, including national minorities.
Within the framework of the conference Nikolova conferred with her Ukrainian counterpart and Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Stepan Kubiv. The sides made a detailed review of operational dialogue in important fields, including tourism, infrastructure, increasing trade, promotion of cooperation in leading spheres such as high-tech, R&D and joint space projects. They also discussed the key role of the Black Sea region for finding new markets for Bulgarian and Ukrainian goods.
Later, Nikolova also met Hungary's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Peter Szijjarto, with whom she discussed the traditionally good relations between the two countries. The talks focused on economic ties and common positions supporting the process of accession of the Western Balkans to the EU./RY/BR
