Sofia, July 9 (BTA) - The National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) owes 285 million leva to foreign institutions for treatment of Bulgarians abroad, Deputy Health Minister and Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of NHIF Zheni Nacheva said during a meeting of the Supervisory Board on June 17. A transcript from the proceedings of the meeting has been published on NHIF's website.

The bulk of the money is owed to Austria, Britain and Germany. A schedule for payment of the amount has been made.

The overdue debts of NHIF to foreign funds stood at 135 million leva as at the end of 2018. Nacheva said these will be fully repaid in 2020.

In 2018 the additional revenue to NHIF was 70 million leva, 67 million leva of which were allocated to pay for medicines.

NHIF has receivables due to it amounting to 2.954 million leva from medicinal products marketing authorization holders. The amount is to be paid this year. LY/ZH//
