site.btaBulgarian Exports Up by 9.1% in January-May

July 12 (BTA) - Between January and May 2019, Bulgarian
exports totalled 23,308.5 million leva, up by 9.1 per cent from
the like period of 2018, the National Statistical Institute said
 on Friday.

In May 2019, total exports added up to 4,639,300 leva, up by 7.3
 per cent from a year earlier.

Imports between January and May 2019 amounted to 25,747,000 
leva  (at CIF prices), or up by 3.5 per cent from the same
period of 2018.

In May 2019, total imports decreased by 0.6 per cent
year-on-year, adding up to 5,133,100 leva.

The foreign trade balance (exports FOB - import CIF) was
negative in January-May 2019 and amounted to 2,438,500 leva. At
FOB/FOB prices (after elimination of transport and insurance
costs on imports) between January and May 2019 the foreign trade
 balance was also negative and added up to 675.7 million leva.

In May 2019, the total foreign trade balance (exports FOB -
import CIF) was negative at 493.8 million leva. The trade
balance at FOB/FOB prices was also negative and amounted to
177.4 million leva.

Trade with Third Countries

In January-May 2019, Bulgarian exports to third countries
increased by 14.4 per cent from the like period of 2918 and
added up to 7,390,300 leva.

In May 2019, Bulgarian exports to third countries increased by
13 per cent year-on-year and amounted to 1,470,200 leva.
 
Imports from third countries in January-May 2019 increased by
5.6 per cent in comparison with same period of 2018 to 8,986,200
 leva (at CIF prices). The largest imports were from the Russian
 Federation, Turkey, China and Serbia.

In May 2019, imports from third countries decreased by 7.3 per
cent year-on-year to 1,669,900 leva.

BulgariaТs trade balance (export FOB - import CIF) with third
countries in January-May 2019 was negative at 1,595,900 leva.
The trade balance at FOB/FOB prices (after elimination of
transport and insurance costs on imports) was also negative and
amounted to 818.9 million leva.

In May 2019, the foreign trade balance of Bulgaria (export FOB -
 import CIF) with third countries was negative and amounted to
