site.btaSofia Inspectorate Conducts 110 Inspections for Air, Environmental Pollution
Тhe teams of the Metropolitan Inspectorate had made 110 checks for air and environmental pollution by 4:30 p.m., the Metropolitan Inspectorate said Wednesday. Of the total number of inspections, 27 were at construction sites, and five acts were issued. The remaining inspections involved cases of open burning. Two acts were issued for burning waste in the Poduyane and Krasna Polyana areas.
As part of the overall approach to tackling air pollution, increased inspections are being carried out by the Sofia Inspectorate. The inspections are for pollution from the activities of construction companies, for unregulated combustion, on signals and other various sites from which there is such pollution. The Sofia Municipality publishes information on air quality through the "About Air" information system, as well as the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) forecast on the expected potential of the atmosphere to be polluted with atmospheric particulate matter (АPM) 10 on the territory of Sofia.
Earlier on Wednesday the Sofia Municipality announced the introduction of a temporary green ticket worth BGN 1. For January 9 and 10, in connection with the measured exceedance of the value of АPM 10 in the air over Sofia, as well as in connection with the NIMH forecast for the expected potential of air pollution in the next two days, assessed as "moderate".
