Bulgaria Commemorates Soldiers Killed During Stabilization and Reconstruction Operation in Iraq

On Friday, several units of the Bulgarian Armed Forces commemorate the servicemen killed during the Stabilization and Reconstruction Operation in Iraq, the Defence Ministry said.

Twenty-one years ago on Friday, a truck bomb killed five Bulgarian soldiers in Camp India in Karbala. They were members of the first Bulgarian military contingent involved in the stability and reconstruction operation, the Ministry said.

The Land Forces Commands, the Joint Command Special Operations and servicepersons commemorate those fallen in the line of duty during the Iraq stabilization and reconstruction operation between 2003 and 2008: Major Georgi Kachorin, Senior Lieutenant Nikolay Saraev and Officer Candidates Anton Petrov, Marin Milev, Tsvetan Kamov, Paun Georgiev, Ivan Indzhov, Svilen Kirov, Dimitar Dimitrov, Vladimir Pashov, Gardi Gardev, Preslav Stoyanov and Valentin Donev.
