site.btaOne Dead, Three Injured in Residential Building Explosion
An explosion in a 14-storey residential building in Istanbul's Beylikduzu district on Saturday morning left one person dead and three others injured, TRT Haber reported.
Most of the building's residents were at home when the explosion occurred.
The Istanbul district police said that a fault in the gas installation was the likely cause of the blast, which was also felt in a neighbouring building.
Speaking to TRT Haber, residents described the explosion as being followed by a powerful tremor. Pieces of concrete collapsed and blocked one of the building's entrances, they said.
Crews of the gas network management service, the fire brigade, and the police were dispatched to the scene. Gas and power supplies to the building have been cut off.
