site.bta2018 Foreign Direct Investment in Non-Financial Sector Tops EUR 25 Bln

August 30 (BTA) - Early estimates show that foreign
direct investment (FDI) in Bulgaria's non-financial sector in
2018 amounted to 25.454 billion euro at current prices, the
National Statistical Institute (NSI) reported on Friday.

FDI was largest in industry, at 10.873 billion euro, followed by
 services (trade; motor vehicles repair; transport, storage and
posts; hotels and restaurants), at 6.430 billion euro.

The construction sector absorbed 457 million euro in FDI in
2018.

The share of services in total annual FDI increased by 2
percentage points in 2018 compared with 2017, while the share of
 industry decreased by 1.1 percentage points.

Also citing early estimates, the NSI said that expenditures for
the acquisition of tangible fixed assets (TFA) in the Bulgarian
economy in 2018 amounted to 19.267 billion leva at current
prices.

The largest amount of TFA expenditures were made in industry, at
 5.726 billion leva, followed by services (trade; motor vehicles
 repair; transport, storage and posts; hotels and restaurants),
at 4.913 billion leva. The construction sector had 1.505 billion
 leva in TFA expenditures.

The share of industry in total annual TFA expenditures shrank by
 1.4 percentage points in 2018 compared with 2017, and the share
 of services declined by 0.4 percentage points. Increases were
observed in the share of buildings and other structures, up by
0.1 percentage points, and means of transport, up by 0.6
