site.btaUS Congress Appropriates USD 56.154 Mln towards Sale of F-16 Block 70 Aircraft to Bulgaria

September 2 (BTA) - Acting on a motion from the
Department of State, the United States Congress has authorized
the appropriation of 56,153,980 US dollars in Foreign Military
Financing (FMF) assistance to Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Defence
Ministry said in a press release on Monday.

The appropriation will supplement the 1,200,000,000 dollars
deposited by Bulgaria under four Letters of Agreement on the
procurement of eight F-16 Block 70 jet fighters at an aggregate
price of 1,256,153,980 US dollars, signed between the
Governments of Bulgaria and the US on July 10, 2019.

The Letters of Agreement were ratified by Bulgaria's National
Assembly on July 19, 2019. Bulgaria remitted 1.2 billion dollars
 on August 8, 2019. On August 12, 2019, the US Defence Security
Cooperation Agency (DSCA) confirmed receipt of the payment and
the entry into force of the Letters of Agreement for the US
