Sofia, September 23 (BTA) - On September 26, Sofia will host a forum where digital health and innovation companies are pooling efforts to usher 21st century healthcare. The forum is mottoed "From TREATMENT to HEALTHcare through DIGITALIZATION" which will gather nearly 400 business people, innovators and leaders in digital health from Bulgaria.

The organizers' key goal is to open up avenues for new cooperation and finding new partners.

The forum is organized by the Digital Health and Innovation Cluster Bulgaria (DHI), an association that was created in November 2018. It started with nine members and now includes 19 companies, mostly Bulgarian but also companies from Switzerland, which is the European leader in health care innovations.

During the forum, 44 speakers will present working digital solutions in various fields of health care: care system management, big data and analytics, teleHealth and mHealth, diagnostics, medication management, cyber security, population health and practice management.

Rossen Dimitrov of the DHI Managing Board told BTA that one of the participating companies has developed patented wearables that allow constant streaming of cardiac and other significant biometric data, providing a comprehensive system for online diagnostics, prevention and emergency reaction for cardiovascular diseases. It is one of the most avant-garde telemedicine systems for the transmission and monitoring of reliable medical data in real time.

Another company offers a cloud-based platform which enables all stakeholders in the healthcare process to work together - doctors, pharmacists, dentists, healthcare professionals, patients, administrators, agents, insurers, and all other related businesses - in what is essentially paperless healthcare.

A third example of what the participants in the forum will hear is a unique matching algorithm that easily connects people with various health conditions worldwide with the most suitable studies for them. This platform helps patients to easily find, understand and join clinical trials, and researchers to expand their pool of eligible patients.

The forum is the central event during the first Swiss INNOVATION 4 HEALTH Week in Sofia between September 26 and October 9. As part of the event, an open-air exhibition "INNOVATION 4 HEALTH" in central Sofia will showcase Swiss innovations in medical technologies and pharma.

Swiss Ambassador Muriel Berset Kohen will inaugurate the exhibition and the forum.

Among the participants in the forum is Daniela Daritkova, GERB floor leader and chair of the parliamentary health committee; MEP Andrey Kovatchev (Group of the European People's Party); Prof. Dr. Ivo Petrov, who is a healthcare innovator and leading medical expert in invasive cardiology; Dr. Ivan Madzharov, the head of the Bulgarian Medical Association; and Dr. Stanimir Hasurdjiev, Chairperson of the Bulgarian National Patients' Organization and a patient leader on EU level.
