Bulgaria, Jordan
Want to Deepen
Economic Ties

Amman, October 13 (BTA special correspondent Antoan Nikolov) - After meeting with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov here on Sunday, Jordan's Prime Minister Omar Razzaz said his country wants to deepen its economic ties and relations with Bulgaria.

Razzaz said Bulgaria's high-tech production and agriculture, among other areas, set an example in Europe. He talked about his country's ambition to increase trade and achieve connectivity between the two economies. He added that there are opportunities and prospects for cooperation in the pharmaceutical industry and tourism. Efforts will be directed towards expanding two-way trade.

For his part, Borissov said cooperation can also develop in education, innovation and digital infrastructure. He said he had pledged that Bulgarian businesses would be encouraged to regain their position as main phosphate suppliers.

Borissov said that Jordan, like Bulgaria, conducts a balanced foreign policy, which accounts for the two foreign ministries' identical or similar positions on all key matters.

The Bulgarian Prime Minister said there were more than 1.2 million migrants in Jordan and he would raise this issue at the European Council in Brussels next week. "We must help Jordan in this extremely strenuous situation," he commented. LN/DD
