site.bta2018 Final Output Produced in Agriculture Stands at BGN 8,457.6 Million - Statistics

October 21 (BTA) - The value of the final output produced
 in agriculture in 2018 (preliminary data at current prices)
amounted to BGN 8,457.6 million, which was 2.7 per cent more
than the previous year, the National Statistical Institute said
in a press release Monday. The increase was mainly due to a
price growth by 3.0 per cent, while in the physical measurement
(volumes of production), a minimal decrease by 0.3 per cent
compared to 2017 was reported.

The value of the crop output was BGN 5,773.0 million and
accounted for 68.3 per cent of the total value of agricultural
output. Compared to 2017, the figure was 3.7 per cent higher,
which was the result of an increase in prices by 3.3 per cent,
while the volumes produced registered a slight increase, by 0.4
per cent. The biggest share in the crop output (80.6 per cent)
in 2018 was from grains and industrial crops, whose values were
calculated at BGN 2,823.6 million and BGN 1,829.0 million,
respectively.

The value of the livestock output produced in 2018 amounted to
BGN 1,990.2 million, or 23.5 per cent of the final output in
agriculture. Compared to 2017, the livestock output increased by
 0.7 per cent as a result of a price increase,  by 2.2 per cent,
 while the volumes decreased by 1.5 per cent.

The value of the output of farm animals was BGN 1,102.5 million
(55.4 per cent of the output in livestock), while the value of
the produced animal products was BGN 887.7 million (44.6 per
cent). Compared to 2017, the value of livestock farming
increased by 5.2 per cent, which was due both to a price
increase, by 3.5 per cent, and an increase in volumes, by 1.6
per cent. The value of animal products produced decreased by 4.5
 per cent compared to the previous year, which was a result of
decrease in the volumes produced by 5.1per cent, while prices
remained almost unchanged and were by 0.6 per cent higher than
in 2017.

Compared with 2017, the value of agricultural services increased
 by 7.8 per cent, while the value of output from secondary
non-agricultural activities (inseparable) decreased by 15.8 per
cent. The decrease in output from
secondary non-agricultural activities resulted from a decrease
in the volumes produced, by 18.4 per cent, which could not be
compensated by the 3.2 per cent price increase.

The gross value added produced in agriculture in 2018 (at basic
prices) was BGN 3,663.4 million, 2.5 per cent less than in 2017.
 The decrease was due to a decrease in volume, by 3.8 per cent,
which was not compensated by the 1.3 per cent price increase.
