site.btaBusiness Climate in Industry, Construction, Retail Trade Worsens in October

October 29 (BTA) - In October 2019, the total business
climate indicator  dropped by 1.4 percentage points compared to
September, reflecting the more unfavourable situation in
industry, construction and retail trade.

The Business Climate in Industry composite indicator fell by 1.0
percentage point due to the more moderate industrial
entrepreneurs' assessments and expectations for the business
situation. The poll also found lower expectations for export and
production activity over the next three months.

In October, the Business Climate in Construction composite
indicator decreased by 3.9 percentage points, reflecting the
more unfavourable construction entrepreneurs' assessments and
expectations for the business situation of the enterprises. In
the next six months, the managers expect fewer new orders, which
may lead to a certain drop in activity in the short term.

The Business Climate in Retail Trade composite indicator dropped
by 2.3 percentage points due to the more reserved retailers'
assessments and expectations for the business situation of
enterprises. Their forecasts for both the volume of sales and
orders placed with suppliers over the next three months are also
 less optimistic.

In October, the Business Climate in Services composite indicator
gained 0.9 percentage points due to the more favourable
managers' assessments of the current business situation of the
enterprises. However, their expectations for the demand for
services over the next three months are more reserved. LN/DD
